It was a crisp early October day in Kranjska Gora, and you could smell autumn in the air. The weather was misty with a bit of rain, leaves on trees had already started to change their colors, and the water in Lake Jasna was crystal clear. The clouds floating above the mountains around the lake created a dreamy, almost mystical atmosphere and the perfect backdrop for the wedding of Amy and Jay.
Lake Jasna is a small yet stunning alpine lake surrounded by the high mountain peaks of the Julian Alps. It marks the beginning of the Triglav National Park, and despite it being a popular tourist spot, it is still one of my favorite places in Slovenia. I’m always happy to return there, so when I heard about Amy and Jay’s wedding day at Lake Jasna, I was more than excited to be part of it!
Amy and Jay had a small, intimate wedding with just their close family and friends. Both the wedding ceremony and the reception took place at Jasna Chalet Resort, an elegant alpine-style chalet nestled right next to Lake Jasna.
The chalet has an interesting story. It stands on the spot where once a holiday hunting house of King Alexander of Yugoslavia stood. For some time, it also served as a summer resort for European aristocrats and high officials. The building then opened to the public as a restaurant with a swimming pool in 1945. After decades of it being a popular spot for tourists, many different owners, and the building being destroyed in a fire and rebuilt again, the chalet is now renovated and turned into an idyllic holiday facility and wedding venue.
The wedding was organised by Tatjana from Chic Weddings and she did an amazing job taking care of every little detail. Amy and Jay both got ready at the chalet (separately, of course), and I could capture the excitement and anticipation as they prepared for their big day.
It all continued on a pier on the shore of the lake where the wedding ceremony was held. And as if the place wasn’t beautiful enough, the team from Cvetličarna Omers made everything even prettier with stunning flower arrangements made of roses and pampas grass. Amy wore an elegant open-back wedding dress with lace detail and a long, flowing veil in her hair. She had a bouquet that matched the rest of the wedding decor. Her makeup was done by Sarah Bamburač. As for Jay, he chose an elegant black suit with a bow tie. And to stay true to the alpine style of the venue, they both wore robust leather boots.
After the ceremony, the venue organized a gin and tonic workshop for the guests. And while they were busy mixing the perfect drink, I got a few moments with the newlyweds to take a couple of posed shots on the lakeshore. Then it was time for the reception dinner, followed by a beautiful (and delicious) wedding cake made by Lea from Stories by Lea, and finally, everyone dancing and having a good time long into the night (props to Pop Deluxe for the music). The wedding was photographed by Jana Šnuderl and Simon Gašparovič.
Amy and Jay, it was a pleasure to work with you, and I wish you the best of luck in your life together as husband and wife!
“Jay and I had a post wedding celebration party with all of our family and friends back in the US last weekend, and we showed our wedding video you guys made to the party. Everyone raved about how beautiful it was! I just wanted to say thank you again for capturing our wedding in the most beautiful way! You are truly talented!”
